No board exactly the same as the one before, nor the one that follows. That’s what you get when you find yourself with a Carpet Company deck. Two brothers, Osama and Ayman Abdeldayem, born in Alabama but moved to Maryland for most of their lives, grew up with a literal rocket scientist for dad with a doctorate in physics and a job at NASA. Both brothers actually possess engineering and math degrees of their own, Ayman in information systems and Osama in math and engineering. Some pretty smart dudes we’d say. Both of these guys founded Carpet as just fun after work project in their parents’ basement in Laurel, Maryland. This company has been blowing up, and fast, we’re excited to get them in the shop and see a skater owned company grow. In recent times, the brothers have moved their operation from their parents’ basement to a dedicated space out of Baltimore on Greenmount Avenue. Though this company is growing in popularity, every Carpet item is its own. Ranging from the smallest screen print mistakes, marketed as quirky individualistic design concepts, to soft goods with secret messages sewn or embroidered into pant pockets or jacket linings. That’s just what this company is about, and we love it here at Boardparadise. Presentation and how the customer feels when they get their hands on a product is very important to Carpet. As we may have forgotten to mention before, each Carpet Company deck is HAND screen printed, the two brothers print each board themselves, stamping, signing, and even etching rider initials into the veneers. Graphics on Carpet boards also take mild inspiration from the brother's Osama and Ayman’s Egyptian background with a fun artistic mash of other seemingly random images. Neither of the brothers possess a design oriented background or believe that their work is “fine art” but the Baltimore DIY artist community seems to disagree and carpet decks have even been a part of a gallery installation at the Baltimore Museum of Art, so we think these guys are just modest. But creativity, individualism, and art aren’t the only cool aspects of this brand. Their boards are sent in these cool reusable plastic bags, as opposed to the typical shrink wrap we all just toss out for the landfill. So we’re excited to see a skateboard company thinking of ways to make this industry more sustainable and eco-friendly. Growing through a heavily influential Instagram and social media platform, Carpet is skater owned brand started purely for the love of skating, it’s refreshing to see a company that brings something new to skateboarding but at the same time keep that dream of making your own boards and graphics with your friends. Come through our shop Board Paradise in Greensboro, NC or scroll through our site and cop some new product from Carpet Company Skateboards, no lie this stuff is selling quick!
